Suburban Propane Corporate Headquarters

This project involved the development and design of Suburban Propane's new corporate headquarters on an environmentally impaired site in Whippany, New Jersey.
The project was conceived as a high-tech expression of this national leader in the sale of liquefied gas products, then the largest subsidiary of National Distillers.
A 70,000 sf steel and concrete structure faced in glass and custom-made porcelain enamel panels, the interior design of the structure integrates contemporary office furnishings with combinations of natural woods, glass and stone in the light-filled atrium lobby.
Kimmerle Group architects designed the structure, which has been honored locally and regionally by the above-captioned awards.
Most importantly, the structure has accommodated the varied needs of Suburban Propane over time within one footprint: executive offices, administrative and support offices, food service and cafeteria, training center, computer/MIS facilities and other related functions.
Following the completion of this project, The Kimmerle Group went on to completely renovate an existing structure on site to meet the same standards of finish and technology. For this project, which presented a variety of challenging access issues at the time the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was first implemented, The Kimmerle Group received the following award:
