Matheson Tri-Gas

Basking Ridge, NJ

A new American headquarters site for this firm. The management team had a clear goal and sense of what they were looking for. They expressed an interest in a European contemporary style of design that incorporated selling elements of their business.

We assisted right from the pre-lease phase in looking at different facilities, helping negotiate the workletter and scope of work to get a turnkey build-out well beyond a typical tenant workletter. Closely working with the broker and the client facilitated this process.

The architectural design used a series of gallery like hallways, using wood and stone floors, curved ceilings, and glass and metal fronts. In addition to the architecture, we handled the furniture purchasing to complement and maintain a very striking and cohesive design ensemble.

KN also creating a branding design for the space which has many components. Matheson specializes in selling gases used in lighting fixtures. KN specified and used light fixtures throughout the facility which use Matheson supplied fixtures.

Branding design included:
- design of a patent wall highlighting all MTG's patents on custom plaques
- custom images illustrating gas fabrication process
- glass display cases for awards
- history wall of company
- lighting using Matheson supplied materials

A unique and special project for us, this was a client who gave us a clear goal, and provided the tools through their trust in our design freedom and by letting us take the lead on all furnishing and equipment to create a fully designed environment.

This is a classic tenant/client project for us. We participate in the pre-lease phase to help negotiate the best possible turnkey cost and location. We design and get the space built. And we handle the purchasing component of the furniture on the project to enable the client to get better discounting, and overall project management and coordination.
